When it comes to choosing a hospital bed for a healthcare simulation lab there are many choices. Most instructors wish to have what is currently being used in the local hospital but this is typically cost prohibitive. Up until now the best choice has been to purchase a reconditioned bed. Reconditioned beds can be a great option, however, unless your facility is equipped to handle maintenance, it may not be the best option. Our team at DiaMedical USA listened to the needs of instructors and developed the Vantage Med Surg Tutor Bed. We believe this is the best option for healthcare educators as it is a brand new electric bed with a modern design, low maintenance requirements and is similarly priced to reconditioned hospital beds.

Modern Design & Innovative Functionality

The Vantage Med Surg Tutor Bed is the only new training hospital bed on the market that has been specifically designed to offer all the same features and functionality of a patient ready hospital bed. The Vantage Bed’s modern design allows instructors to safely and effectively train their students on both basic and advanced bedside care.

Popular Vantage Bed Features:

-5 functional positions: High/Low, Fowler, Knee, Trendelenburg, Reverse Trendelenburg

-Includes medical grade mattress, complete bed sheet package and a three (3) year warranty

-CPR release lever rapidly lowers the head of the bed for chest compressions

-Headboard is easily removed and may be used as a backboard

-Integrated foley bag and IV pole holders on the bed frame

-Large brake pedals located centrally on both sides of the bed

-Fowler angle indicator and auto-contour for patient positioning

The Vantage Bed also features silent Linak actuators for smooth, reliable movement of the bed frame. A modular battery backup system and actuators are protected against spraying and splashing water. The motors are reliable, durable, and equipped with overheat protection. The durable 5” caster wheels move easily over door sills and four integrated roller bumpers prevent damage to walls and door jambs. The smooth powder-coated metal and polypropylene surfaces are easily cleaned for infection control.

The Vantage Bed has also been designed to reduce the risk of patient entrapment. Hospital beds manufactured prior to 2000 are likely to pose entrapment risks due to older side rail systems. The Vantage bed was designed to comply with Hospital Bed Safety Workgroup (HBSW) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) requirements. As technology evolves in hospital rooms it’s of the utmost importance that students receive training on what’s currently being used, not what was used 20 years ago.

Reduced Maintenance Costs

Most reconditioned hospital beds have been in service for 20+ years prior to arriving at a simulation lab. In order to keep these older beds in working condition regular maintenance and repairs are required from certified biomedical technicians. Whereas new hospital beds like the Vantage Med Surg Tutor Bed have been designed to require little to no maintenance the first few years of use. Once the Vantage Bed is due for service, replacement parts are easy to come by and preventive maintenance is simple and affordable. We’ve even found that schools without a service department can complete most repairs on their own keeping maintenance costs low!

Price Point Comparable to Reconditioned Hospital Beds

The Vantage Med Surg Tutor Bed is a great investment for simulation labs of any size. It's competitive price point is comparable to reconditioned hospital beds from leading manufacturers like Hillrom and Stryker. All Vantage Bed purchases also include a one (1) year warranty, a medical grade mattress and a complete bed sheet package. There is an optional three (3) year extended warranty available.

Reduced Lead Time

Due to Covid-19, sourcing reconditioned hospital beds has become increasingly difficult. With increased demand from hospitals and inefficient supply chains, lead times for reconditioned beds can be upwards of 8 weeks. However, the Vantage Med Surg Tutor Bed lead time has remained the same. Our team at DiaMedical USA has ramped up production of hospital beds to ensure healthcare educators can have their brand new Vantage Bed shipped out in a timely manner, allowing instructors to start running simulations as soon as possible!
