As the CoronaVirus (COVID-19) continues to spread throughout the U.S it’s becoming increasingly important to understand how you can prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. The CDC has released numerous articles on what we can do to help reduce the spread of this very serious illness. Below you will find some of the most important precautions you can take to reduce the spread of the disease and protect yourself

Steps to Protect Yourself & Others

Clean & Disinfect

Frequently touched surfaces should be cleaned daily, this includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, phones, keyboards etc. It’s also very important to read the directions on your cleaning supplies for their current cleaning exposure time and OSHA standards.

Avoid Close Contact

Do your best to put distance between yourself and other people. It is very important to avoid close contact with anyone that is sick or caring for someone that is sick. You should follow the rules of social distancing if COVID-19 is spreading rapidly in your community.

Wear a Facemask if You’re Sick

If you are sick you need to wear a facemask. Facemasks are in very short supply and should be used by medical professionals, individuals caring for someone who is sick, and people who are already infected.

Clean Your Hands Often & Cover Your Coughs Or Sneezes

Washing your hands is the most important precaution you can take! Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue whenever you cough or sneeze, remember to dispose of the tissue immediately in a lined trash can, then wash or disinfect your hands.

What to Do If You Think You Have The CoronaVirus:

Stay home and Avoid Public Areas

Even if you are mildly ill doctors recommend that you stay at home and isolate yourself. It is important to restrict all outside activities, unless you are getting immediate medical care.

Separate Yourself From Other People & Animals in Your Home

Distance yourself from family members and pets as much as possible! You should do your best to stay in a specific room and keep away from others in your home. The CDC also recommends that infected members of your household should use separate bathrooms if possible.

Call Ahead Before Visiting Your Doctor

If you have an appointment to see your healthcare provider, call and tell them you have or may have COVID-19. This allows the provider’s office to take steps to keep other people from getting infected or exposed.

Monitor Your Symptoms

Seek medical attention immediately if your illness is worsening, you should look for signs like increasing temperature, difficulty breathing or a worsening cough. If you have an emergency and need to call 911, notify the dispatch personnel that you have or are being evaluated for the Coronavirus, try to put on a mask before they arrive.
