3B Scientific BASIC Male and Female Catheterization Simulators allow realistic demonstration and practice of urinary catheterization procedures. The basic version provides a simplified and general presentation and demonstration of catheterization. Standard procedures as part of professional training for nurses and everyday clinical practice can be taught and improved. Both gender inserts provide a very realistic experience in inserting catheters, since the relevant structural features with regard to the length and the route of the urethra have been taken into account.
 

The soft outer genital parts – labia for the female insert and foreskin for the male insert – are flexible and offer realistic handling.
 

Students can practice preparing the models in sterile conditions. The transparent bladder can be filled via a 500 ml reservoir bottle and checked visually to ensure the catheter has been correctly placed. If the catheter is correctly inserted, fluid starts to flow out automatically. The outflow can be controlled manually using a locking clip.
 

The genital insert is placed into the holder and held in place with magnets.  Non-slip feet on the stand allow it to stay securely on the table.  Magnetic connectors allow quick setup and switching between male and female genitalia.  Inserts are easily cleaned with mild soap and water.
 

Up to size 16 Fr silicone and PVC catheters may be used in the 3B trainer. Coude catheters with curved tips should not be utilized. Water-soluble lubricant should be used so that the catheter can be inserted smoothly into the urethra.
 

Male P93 Trainer features:

• Soft, removable foreskin
• Three (3) different levels of urethral constriction may be set
• Size 12 or 14 Fr catheter is required for moderately narrow urethra
• Catheterization is not possible in the narrowest setting, leading to the conclusion that a suprapubic catheter is required
