Alaris 8100 Pump Module – Instructional Use

The Alaris 8100 Pump Module provides excellent patient care as a light weight, large volume pumping module that is easily attached to the Alaris 8015 or 8000 PC Units. This infusion pump module has dose rate calculations and many other advanced features for the caregiver. The Alaris 8100 can be pole mounted and used in many versatile clinical settings for adults, pediatrics, and neonates.
 

The Alaris 8100 is intended for facilities that utilize infusion pumps for the delivery of fluids, medications, blood, and blood products using continuous or intermittent delivery through clinically acceptable routes of administration; such as, intravenous (IV), intra-arterial (IA), subcutaneous, epidural, enteral, or irrigation of fluid spaces.
 

The Alaris Medley system is unique because multiple infusion and monitoring modules can be attached to a central point of care unit. Clinicians can combine up to four modules to not only deliver infusions but also assess the patient’s response to therapy. The Alaris Medley system uses Guardrails, the most comprehensive infusion safety software available today. It protects every patient and every infusion with a dedicated drug library and preset dosage limits.  Potential medication errors are identified and corrected before infusions are started. Clinical advisories alert nurses to special precautions that are required for certain medications.
 

Guardrails software is specifically designed for hospital systems so DiaMedical USA created an abbreviated version for healthcare training programs. It is the only Educational Drug Library that allows students to program both primary and secondary medications for infusion. It also offers weight-based dosing for critical care infusions with optional boluses for loading doses. The DiaMedical Drug Library even includes a clinical advisory to remind students to open the secondary tubing clamp before starting piggyback infusions.
