This Life/Cheform st Tube Manikin is designed specifically to demonstrate:
 

• Theory, anatomy, and skills needed to manage pre-hospital chest trauma
• Ongoing chest tube maintenance
• Management of pleural effusion
• Concepts and mechanics of closed water-seal drainage systems
• Drainage fluid color, volume, and viscosity can be controlled by the instructor
• Two (2) cut-away viewing areas show anatomical relationships between the skin surface, musculature, ribs and lungs

Pressurized Tension Pneumothorax Site
 

• 2nd intercostal space at midaxillary line
• Accumulated air within the pleural space is restricting lung inflation
• Functioning chest tube may be inserted and connected to any commercially available water seal drainage unit
• Each pneumothorax pad may be punctured several times before replacement is needed
• Foot pump provides air pressure within the chest

Chest Tube Insertion Site
 

• 5th intercostal space at midaxillary line
• Reservoir bag contains drainage fluid
• Allows insertion of Size 32 Fr chest tube
• Each chest tube pad may be punctured four (4) times before replacement is needed

Nurse Training Pad
 

• Designed to fit under the chest skin overlay
• Used to demonstrate site care and chest tube maintenance
